Parish Priest

We currently do not have a vicar at Christ Church and we are in an interregnum period.

Our former vicar, the Reverend Karen Marshall, left the benefice on 28th November 2019 after five years in the post, She is now interim priest in charge at St James Hebden Bridge and St Thomas Heptonstall.

 

 Reverend Christine Bailey

Christine was ordained a priest at Manchester Cathedral in June 2015.

She is an Ordained Local Minister (OLM) and serves in our two parishes as Assistant Priest.

Reader

Terry Morford is the Reader at Christ Church. Terry was admitted as a Reader in the Church of England at Manchester Cathedral on 25th May 1984 for service in Christ Church parish.  In September 2015 he was designated Reader Emeritus.

Terry and his wife Sue have been members of the congregation at Christ Church since 1972. During that time he has served as the leader of the Church Lads and Church Girls Brigade, Junior Church leader (formerly Sunday School) and in the PCC roles of secretary and treasurer. He is currently also the chair of the environmental group IDEA.

It was Revd. Bill Bryson who encouraged him to train and become a Reader. Since being licensed he has served under the successive incumbents Revd. John Watts, Revd. Hilary Evans and Revd. Bob Hill. 

Terry and Sue have two children, David (now married to Louise and with two grandchildren, Evie and Rhys) and Catherine. Terry retired from work as a Health, Safety and Environmental Manger in 2006 having worked for Ciba-Geigy Chemicals and FMC Lithium Division in the chemical processing industry.
