Fair Trade

Mary and David Hough run the Fair Trade stall at Christ Church and this was their report for the 2014 APCM: -

"Christ Church signed the Fairtrade pledge in 2005, agreeing to use only Fairtrade tea and coffee and to promote Fairtrade.

During 2013, Fair Trade continued to be promoted on a day-to-day basis in the parish with a permanent stall in church selling Fairtrade crafts and foods, including tea, coffee, sugar, rice, pasta and sweet and savoury snacks.  A Fairtrade stall was included once again at the Christmas Fair. Fairtrade tea, coffee and sugar were used after all services and at all events. Home-made cakes using Fairtrade ingredients were also used at events.

During Fairtrade Fortnight, for the fourth year running, we provided stock for sale, as well as promotional and educational materials, for a stall at Kingsway Primary School. The stall was staffed by children at the school and was very successful, with sales 11% higher than in 2012. The children also used Fairtrade as a basis for classroom work during the fortnight.

As in 2011 and 2012, the Real Easter Egg was sold in church. This is a Fairtrade egg, whose price also includes a donation to Traidcraft Exchange.'
