 FAQs

  • A church service is a special time to gather together in person and connect with God. You don’t have to be a Christian to attend church; in fact, God loves us to come when we feel doubtful or simply curious. You are always welcome!

We meet at 10:30am and the service lasts for just over an hour. We connect with God by singing, reading the Bible and praying together. You won’t have to pray out loud or sing if you are not sure - just keep an open mind. The sermon (talk) helps us to understand the Bible better. We’re not trying to be clever, we just long to grow closer to God and believe the Bible is the main way that God reveals himself. You don’t have to know the Bible already or even own a copy - these are available at church.

  • Primary school-aged kids can enjoy being together in a group too. Each week our kids’ group, under the guidance of leaders, explores the Bible in a fun and relevant way.

If you or your child would like to connect with church, be bold and give it a go! Our Sunday service and youth group, Ignite, are great starting places.

  • A faithful, local church gives us a glimpse of what heaven will be like: a true community, a family of people from all walks of life gathered by Christ to serve and worship God and each other.

What does that mean? Loving others as we would want to be loved ourselves; loving God and accepting that we are made and loved by an amazing God.

Even if you’re not sure you can say that about yourself, church is a great place to explore what you think about this claim. Join our next Explore Course to find out more.

  • People like you! People of all ages attend Christ Church - from newborn to ninety nine and everything in between. Our congregation is enriched by the wisdom and vibrancy of every generation. Church is made up of local people who care deeply about the local area - so you are sure to have at least one thing in common with whoever you sit next to on a Sunday!

  • Whatever you feel comfortable in! You’ll find people wear anything from joggers to formal clothing.

  • Yes, we offer Communion (also called The Lord’s Supper or the Eucharist) and it takes place twice a month. It’s an opportunity for Christians to remember the sacrifice Jesus Christ made for our salvation when he died on the cross and was resurrected.

The wine symbolises Jesus’s blood, the bread, his body. Even if you are not yet certain about what you believe, we would love to say a prayer of blessing for you during communion.

  • No. Church is free of charge. It’s a place to be known and to know others - there’s no catch! We have a generous God who provides for our needs and our wealth is not measured by our wallet. We won’t put you on the spot, we won’t pressure you for money or commitment, we won’t judge you and you won’t have to sign anything!

  • Yes, we’d be happy to talk to you about anything; practical or spiritual.

When it comes to faith, it’s a journey best shared together with people who can listen and encourage us. Every Sunday, we welcome you to join us for refreshments after the service. This is a great way to get to know people, ask questions and share life’s ups and downs. If something is particularly concerning you and you need to talk in confidence, please contact us or our Safeguarding Officer.

“God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us.”
